edit - Fill in a PDF/A with Acrobat 9.5.5 Pro

    mark122s

A file I received to fill out opens with a note in top blue bar saying "You are viewing this document in PDF/A mode"

How do I change this so I can fill or add typewriting text?  I even tried printing it to another PDF. When I opened that PDF, I had the same problem.

      Thanks.

There are two ways you can get around this, a right way and a wrong way:

The right way is to remove the PDF/A property from the document, and you can do that using the Preflight "Remove PDF/A information" profile:

The wrong way is to override when a document is opened as a PDF/A document by going into Acrobat's preferences, selecting the "Document" category and then setting "View documents in PDF/A mode" to "Never":

This is "wrong" because it does not change the document, it's still marked as a PDF/A document,  but you are modifying it, which could potentially not make it PDF/A compliant anymore.
