Acrobat 10 installed with a single user license, won't open after in-design cs6 was installed, it prompts me to login with our CC account, but says it can't find a license for it.. which makes sense as Acrobat X was installed with a single user license.
How can I fix Acrobat to work independently of CC?

do you have a current cc subscription or trial?

Yes, we do have an active subscription. Photoshop, indesign CC work fine. but it has jacked up Acrobat X which was installed prior to any CC products.

i don't believe that would have happened unless you had an acrobat subscription OR you trialed acrobat dc.
if you're confident neither situation applies, using a browser that allows popups and cookies, contact adobe support during pst business hours by clicking here and, when available, click 'still need help', http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/service-ccm.html
if you think you might have trialed acrobat dc:
uninstall everything cc including preferences, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-remove-app.html
then uninstall the cc desktop app, https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/help/uninstall-creative-cloud-desktop-app.html
clean your computer of cc files per http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
uninstall acrobat x (ONLY after securing your serial number)
if win os, Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems
restart your computer (don't skip this)
reinstall acrobat x and activate with your serial number
reinstall the cc desktop app, https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud.
use the desktop app to install your cc programs/trials
