This is a request we get every once in awhile and I think it's something the product team is working on.
In the meantime, and I don't know if it will make too much of a difference for you, I wanted you to know that brush/color settings stay with a project. That is, if you just add another drawing to a current project (instead of starting a new drawing in a new project), your brushes and colors will be as you left them.
