Issue with lightroom 6 and 5DMK4 files

    richardh90898362

Hello  i'm using lightroom for years without any problems

With Canon 5DMK4 files lightroom developpement module is very very very slow

im using a Mac Pro 2012 with 6 physics Core and 16GB ram and yosemite 10.10.5

everything is fast with 5DMK2 files

      HDD is SSD

Im using Lightroom 6 up to date 6.10.1

      Gpu acceleration is off

it's quite horrible because it's very very long so i cannot work properly when you have to wait a couple of second to make anything

      Please help me

Be specific. Exactly what actions in LR Develop Module are slow?

Did this start when you began using the 5D Mark IV? Have you changed any hardware recently?

Are you doing a lot of brushing and/or spot healing?

How big is your monitor (in pixels)?

everithing is slow in develop module

croping , modifying light or balance of light , every simple modifications is very long

if i switch to a folder with with 5DMK2 pictures it s running back on the track

i am not doing brushing or healing but only simple light and croping modification

My monitor is full hd 1920

It s started with  this files of 5DMK4 and the only modification i have made recently is  installing Photshop CS3

Thank you and sorry for my english  , i am in france

              I see two problems.

One problem is that your CPU is 6 cores, and the general consensus (unfortunately) is that Lightroom runs slowly on a 6 core (or more) machine, and that the problem doesn't seem to exist if your CPU has 4 cores.

The other problem is that the 5DMK4 photos are 36% bigger that the 5DMK2 photos, and your CPU is very old, and apparently it is not fast enough to edit these larger photos with the same speed.

Ideally, you want to purchase a 4 core CPU that is relatively fast by today's standards.

Another thing you can try with the 5DMK4 files is to create Smart Previews, and then use those when you are editing, this should go faster.

                Hello

                thanks for your Help

when i look to processors monitor they are not 100% utilisation  , never , but im waiting in front of my screen

Buying a new computer look strange for me

the cpu is not at full utilisation, and i dont like the Trash bin Macpro

i cannot understand why 35 % make à so Huge différence between super fast instant and very very long to react

I dont want to go back to pC

is is There an optimisation scheduled by Adobe for 6 cores machines ?

Is it possible to. Something else?

i am going to try smart previews

i try with the GPu but it makes no différence

                Thank you so Much

                  GPU is irrelevant here.

No one knows when Adobe will fix this 4-core issue.

I don't have any other ideas about your problem other than what I already said, but definitely try the Smart Previews.

                    Hello

I do not see any difference

do i need to delete the actual previews files ?

                    thanks
