Please close all Adobe applications and try resetting InDesign preferences to defaults

If file is saved on network drive like dropbox or any office server, save it on desktop and check if it crashes.
In order to assist you on this I would request you to share some details like
Exact version of InDesign and MAC Sierra? If it is MAC OSX 10.12.4 please upgrade to 10.12.5.
Graphic card and when it was updated last time?
Where the file is saved (Local HDD or network drive)
