Hi. I've recently bought a brand new iMac, newly released 2017 edition. It seems to grind to a complete halt intermittently. The Creative Cloud desktop app keeps getting damaged. I've just tried unistalling all things Adobe which seems to resolve the issue. Has anyone else encountered anything similar?

Did you check if your machine is compatible? See: Adobe Creative Cloud system requirements
It was really wise of you to uninstall Creative Cloud and reinstall when you received the Creative Cloud damaged error. Let us know if that continues.
These errors are not frequent but definitely exist and our team is already working on getting rid of them.
