New to this forum. Just got into PC building a few months ago and have been editing for a while.
I have been doing some research on what would be the best storage solution for a 4K video editing workstation.
My current setup:
Samsung 960 EVO 250GB M.2 SSD
Samsung 850 EVO 250GB SATA SSD
Cache Files, Preview Renders
Crucial MX300 1TB SATA SSD
I quickly realized that my 1TB SSD may not be enough for the projects I have. I am still within the one month window where I can return it. Unfortunately clients aren't quick to get feedback delivered so projects stack up quite quickly. I need at least 6TB of immediate, fast storage. However this would cost $1,600 minimum in SSD storage (with Crucial MX300 2TB drives). I was looking at RAID systems, specifically the newer G-RAID systems. I ordered a 12TB one to test out, which I will be using via a USB 3.1 Type C connection.
I was wondering what insights you all may have on the best storage system, considering budget limitations while enabling a bottleneck-free experience while handling mostly RED and prosumer DSLR encoded footage.
