can someone help me..all of a sudden while working on a composition my sound stopped

Nobody can tell you anything without exact system info or other technical details like exact version of AE, comp settings, details about the source files, audio preferences and preview settings and so on.

Check Preferences > Audio Hardware to be sure you are using the correct audio output.
