    Cannot Edit Scanned PDFs

      Adobe DC Standard

      Windows 7 64-bit

This is a new problem. Until two weeks ago, I did not have this problem.

I cannot edit a scanned page.  I receive this error message:  "Acrobat has detected that this page doesn't have editable text. If it is a scanned page, convert it to another format using the Export PDF tool."

Have tried on 3 different computers.

Have tried 2 different versions of DC: Acrobat DC Standard and Pro.

Have tried scans from 2 different machines:  Konica Minolta copier and Futjitsu ScanSnap ix500.

I CAN edit a PDF created by our ordering system.

I have tried running Adobe's OCR recognition both during and after scanning, same error message.

I have tried exporting the file to Word and the result is worthless - doesn't look anything like original.

Ideas, please? I feel like I'm missing something obvious.

      Thanks MMJ

What output style are you using when OCR-ing the scan? Try using Editable Text and Images in Acrobat Pro DC.

          1. In Enhance Scans.
          2. Click Recognise Text (in this file).
          3. Click Settings, and set Output to Editable Text and Images
          4. Click OK, click Recognise Text.
          5. Close Enhanced Scans, and choose View > Tools > Edit PDF > Open

You should now be able to edit the text in the PDF file.

Thank you for the assistance! Unfortunately, it didn't resolve my issue. What I've noticed is that I only have the following options for output compared to yours. I am using Adobe DC Standard, not Pro. Maybe something changed in the ability to edit in Standard vs. Pro?

            I appreciate your help!
