I recently did a multi-day photo safari with two cameras, a 5D MK IV and a 7D. The 5D has GPS built in while the 7D does not. I realize now what I should have done was run a geotracker on my phone to generate a tracklog for the 7D, but I didn't. But the GPS data is perfect on the images from the 5D. So my question is, assuming the clocks were in sync and photos were all taken in the same locations each day, can I automatically transfer over the geotag data from the 5D images to those taken on the 7D? I'd rather not manually drag and drop thousands of images onto the map.
Thanks so much
It may be possible to reverse engineer a track log from the 5D photos and then match similar times taken, from the 7D exif data. I’ve never tried this personally but take a look at this tool or Google similar.
Great, thanks I'll give that a try.
You can copy the geotags from one photo to another using the Sync Metadata command, but I don't think you can do this in bulk. You'd have to select a photo with geotags, and other photos that the geotags should be copied into. However, I'm not sure that's any easier than the other suggestion.
