We have created some artwork for a client with a drop shadow effect - when the printer has opened the file as IDML as noton CC2017, the drop shadow effect has changed. The Option - Size value was set to 54.904mm in our original file, but in the IDML file it has defaulted to 1.764mm. All other values from our original file have stayed the same.
I had read a previopus thread about overrides on object styles and thought that might have solved our issue, but it hasnt 😞
Has anyone got any ideas how to fix this? On reading other posts about distortions occurring between CC2017 and downsaving to IDML, we are obviously nervous now of what other changes might occur to other files/effects going forward.
Grateful for any suggestions
Thanks
Sharon
IDML should NEVER, EVER be used for production. For the love all things holy, send a PDF for printing.

The warning that always goes out when saving a file as an IDML is that features that are new or have been developed differently in the newer versions may be lost when they are opened in an earlier version of InDesign. It may come down to having to adjust the file in the lower version.

Fully aware of that and this is usually the case.... however on this occasion the printer asked for the open file to add on a code at source, which is when we noticed the issue. We have resolved the file, but was just asking out of curiosity if there was a solution /fix - they were opening in CC2015 so not a really old version

It's perfectly possible to download both CC 2017 and CC 2015 from the Creative Cloud. They can run side-by-side. All the printer had to do was open it in the correct version of InDesign.

Hi All
Thanks for your comments.
I am aware of all the above, was just asking if there was a glitch which caused the distortion and any known workarounds.
