is there a way to run a batch process outside of adobe acrobat xi to accomplish this? I have tried the preflight "remove pdf/a" but it does not work at all on these files...they don't fail they just don't get cleansed. Any ideas out there?

I know there's a method using Preflight option to remove PDF/a.  Uncertain of a action wizard solution.  I'm following as well to see what others suggest.
