I have isolated an image from a childrens book. the author wants the image (a boat) to travel to different places by putting it onto pictures. I am new to photoshop, and need to delete the white background box from the image. How?

it would be most helpful if you posted the image of the boat and typical image it is to be superimposed on. Sometimes the Quick Selection tool can do the job, sometimes a mask is a more appropriate one, sometimes the Blend If command will do the job, and sometimes the Blending mode set to Multiply is all that is needed.
