Freaky behaviour: Does Photoshop create a new custom workspace based on my old one when updating?

Okay, this is really silly. But it does freak me out a little bit. I always save my custom workspace with the version of PS for which it was created in the name. I only recently updated to PS CC 2017. In PS CC 2015.5 I had a workspace named "Dualmonitor_Palettenpositionen_CC 2015". In the new Version I have that and another one called "Dualmonitor_Palettenpositionen_CC 2017" even thought I am sure that I did not create that...

Is Photoshop clever enough to find years in the names of custom workspaces and update those? Seems unlikely. But then, how did this happen.

I know this is silly to even notice or think about, but it's also a bit freaky...
