how to split image into equal parts and no reduce image quality

I have an image that is 48 inches by 64 inches. I am splitting it up into 24 equal parts but when im trying to export it to print it it always tries to save as gif and reduce quality alot. the final image are around 600kb but when i save a lightroom photo 12x12 inches it comes out to around 6mb. can someone please help. thanks

I'm using the splice tool then selecting the whole image and splitting it into 24 pieces 4 down and 6 across. I then click save for web. in the original tab on the top I then select all splits and click save but for some reason it's always Trying to save as gifs. I can add a screenshot if it'll help
