I have made a mandala in illustrator by using the "distort&transform" effects to create symmetry by rotating a line 30 degrees eleven times, then drawing a path and clicking "reflect x" therefore only having to draw one petal at a time. This is a great convenience, but now I am wondering how to convert the mandala into a movable, vectorized object. Whenever I group and resize it, the distort&transform effects ruin it, rendering me incapable of moving the mandala I've created around the page. How can I do this so that I can use my mandala for a logo?
You can now go to Object>Expand Appearance and the effect is no longer live. This way as you move, etc. the effects you are seeing won't occur. Just make sure that you don't want/need the live effect anymore or perhaps keep a copy of the non-expanded one in case you need to make changes later on.

Make a symbol out of it. Then you can move the symbol instances around and it's still editable.
