Problems exporting gif with colour and opacity gradient

    target_blank
I'm creating a skyscraper advert with both a colour and opacity gradient. After I've exported the image to gif format the quality is bad. Whatever I do, I can't seem to increase the quality of the image.

Once the image has been exported it's only 7k, which I'm sure is the problem, but I can't find the setting to change this.

      The image is here. http://tinyurl.com/6n3rya

I've changed the Optimize setting several times, but still no joy.

      Thanks

The problem is the export format. GIF is an indexed format, thus it's not suitable for images that contain gradients. JPEG would be a great format for preserving gradients, but it doesn't support opacity. The only export option I can think of that retains both gradients and opacity well, is PNG32. The catch with that is the large filesize.

I now use CS3, the last version of FW didn't have this problem.

I need to create an animated gif, and have set the colour and opacity gradient as a background, when you export the animated gif, the image quality is poor.

Can I animate the PNG32 format?

            Thanks SiamJai

No, you can't "legally" animate a .png. There's a plug-in, but it was not approved by the group in charge of the official .png format. If you need to animate a color gradient and an opacity gradient, your best choice is probably Flash, not an image.
