I think that has more to do with the preferences on your system than with the AIR. From what I understand AIR calls the default PDF viewer much like it pulls up your default web browser when pulling up a a website.
It depends on your OS as to how to change the default PDF viewer.
On a Mac, highlight a PDF file and hit Cmd-I to Get Info. Fine the Open With section and expand it. Select Acrobat player from the dropdown and then hit the button 'Change All...' That should work for you.
I have exactly the same problem. Anybody has a solution?
My answer to this one is that Adobe needs to give the developer the option of distributing the Acrobat libraries with the AIR project, like INM's PDF extra with Adobe Director, so this is a non-issue. There is no way to control the number of versions of Acrobat a user has on their system, and which one they have set their system to default to.
