Hello,

I've recently installed the non-activation version of CS3 and noticed that all apps weren't the latest version.

Photoshop 10.0 / should have been 10.01

Illutrator 13.0.0 /should have been 13.02

InDesign 5.0 / should have been 5.04

Acrobat/Distiller 8.0.0 / should have been 8.3.1

Bridge 2.0.0.975 / should have been 2.1.1.9

I think (?).

Does anyone know the reason for this?

Did you Update the applications after you installed them.  All I had was Photoshop.  I installed the new download then updated it.

No, I didn't. Figured they had the sense to compile it to the latest version. I think that's the reasonable thing to do?

I will try this.

Thank you.

Why adobe does not support old software.  They most likely only made the CS3 downloads available so they would not be leaving themselves open to a law suite for taking down the activation servers for CS3.  Activation Servers that are need by Adobe installers that install version .0 of products these install are later updated.  Products get updates the old updates are available.

That would not be the case for Photoshop and may not be the case for Acrobat.  Photoshop Updates are cumulative updates.  The latest Photoshop Updates includes the previous up dates. All you need to install is the latest Photoshop update for a version of Photoshop.  It the were 19 updates before it those 19 updates are included in the 20th update.

Acrobat 8 downloads weren't cumulative, there is a long list. It switched to cumulative updates as of version 10 (X).

@JJMack I tried updating, but only got this message from Adobe Updater: "There are no updates available at this time."

Does that mean I'm stuck with what I have, or will Adobe do what's right here?

Acrobat 8 automatic updates broke years ago.  You have to download and separately apply the many patch files.

And yet again, embarrassing. I guess I'm in the fast lane nowadays. Totally overlooked that.

Thank you for your patience. I will do the updates and report back.

@Jeff Arola Just posted on the Acrobat forum about failing 8.1.6 patch. Downloading directly did the trick.

Thank you so much.
