Hi guys,
I am trying to make a curve parameter.
So i created an arbitrary parameter from the color grid sample
Everything is fine, until i put two of those parameters in an effects.
I try to copy/paste a parameter value from one to the other and then i get (26, 269) error, telling me that i cannot copy paste the values between those parameters.
Is there any samples or does anyone bumped into that problem?
I use the different DISK ID, but the same refconvPV idea when adding the parameters.
Thanks in advance for any help

hmmm...
the problem is that AE is assuming each arb param has it's own data
structure and therefore no two arbs are compatible.
the only solution i can think of is adding custom copy/paste buttons to
your arbs cutsom UI.

I see.
That makes sense considering the way other plugins are done.
I thought that AE would use the print/scan mechanism to transfer datas... also since the refcon is an id i thought AE will use it to identify same types... but seem to be wrong.
So i guess i would need to click, put my data in a the frame/sequence/global data and then paste it in the other effect with the same button.

the PF_Arbitrary_SCAN_FUNC selector is actually never called... even if i try to past from an asciii form.
that s weird. do you know how to get that function to be called?

i think that functino is being called when the copied data comes from
outside of AE, so AE dones't know what that data is and therfore asks the
plug-in to parse it.
i never used it, so i'm not entirely sure...

I see.
I tried to copy from a text editor, and paste to an effect parameter... nothing happens, the function is not called.
Maybe it only works with Adobe premiere

Actually i tried to copy in a text editor, and if i just edit the parameter name and id to match the other parameter, it will paste...
but still not using the scan function.

try removing id data. paste some random text onto your param.

i found out.
the reason is that the clipboard data are parsed before trying to copy them.
When after effect get the focus it s already parsing the text data to get the arbitrary data ready.
so i can copy a stream, paste to text editor, change parameter name and id, copy again and past to another same type arbitrary data.
that sound overkill... so i ll have in the end to do the copy/paste button thing.
