Help with doing "Star Warp Design"

I've been using Illustrator for many years, mostly simple stuff, but I want do do something similar to this design.  Self taught.....

I want to do something similar to the circle tie die in the background.  So, exclude the "Bud Light"  I want the effect behind it.
