Scratch Disk Full - Brand New iMacs?

We just deployed around 50 iMacs to replace PCs in graphics labs in our school district with the following specs:

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, 2017)

Processor 3.4 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 8 GB 2400 MHz DDR4

Graphics Radeon Pro 570 4096 MB

950GB free out of 1TB

macOS Sierra 10.12.6

Adobe CC 2015.5.2 is installed.

I guess my questions are:

1) do we need to update to CC 2017 to fix this scratch disk error?

2) if we do that, are there compatibility issues between 2015 and 2017?

4) is it possible the temp files in the scratch disks are just getting filled by each student account that signs in?

3) is there something more obvious that I'm not seeing?

I don't know why this is happening, but I recommend updating to the latest version - CC 2017. There are no compatibility issues between the 2.

But do not upgrade (yet) to High Sierra if you're also using inDesign (there's a compatibility issue).
