I'm evaluating different GUI languages in order to find one
which is simple to use, allows designers to give applications a
modern look and is likely to survive for at least 10 years. Flex
fits these criteria.
An additional requirement - not a joke - is that it must be
possible to have a DataGrid displayed with up to 40'000 cells
10'000 of whom are visible. Each cell displays a floating point
number. The DataGrid will recieve up to 20'000 cell data updates
per second (5'000 on visible cells), and must be displayed at 5 fps
or higher while consuming no more than 1 CPU on a state of the art
desktop machine. Data transmission is not a problem.
My questions are as follows:
1. Does a (commercial) grid with such abilities exist for
2. In your opinion, is it at all possible to do this with
3. In your opinion, what would be the most reasonable
approach to implement such a control in Flex?
