    High Performance DataGrid/GridView

I'm evaluating different GUI languages in order to find one which is simple to use, allows designers to give applications a modern look and is likely to survive for at least 10 years. Flex fits these criteria.

An additional requirement - not a joke - is that it must be possible to have a DataGrid displayed with up to 40'000 cells 10'000 of whom are visible. Each cell displays a floating point number. The DataGrid will recieve up to 20'000 cell data updates per second (5'000 on visible cells), and must be displayed at 5 fps or higher while consuming no more than 1 CPU on a state of the art desktop machine. Data transmission is not a problem.

      My questions are as follows:
      1. Does a (commercial) grid with such abilities exist for Flex?
      If not:
      2. In your opinion, is it at all possible to do this with Flex?
      3. In your opinion, what would be the most reasonable approach to implement such a control in Flex?
