Photoshop CC 2017 Crashes on Mac Sierra

    davidm99008682 Level 1

No splash screen even appears. I get a core dump showing that a call to devtech_private::ToUnicode::ToUnicode() crashes and calls abort on a throw.

I have tried installing, removing, and reinstalling 3 times now. And every time I get the same problem. Downloaded and installed from the Adobe Creative Cloud app in the menubar. Mac OS X 10.12.6.

Same thing happens when I try to launch Illustrator. But Lightroom and Bridge work just fine.

      ???

Nope... it never even gets to the point of showing anything on the screen - not even the splashscreen. It aborts during initial startup:

I'd like to try and be the resident Mac hero, but I'm going to err on the side of caution.

One of your benefits under CC is remote assist tech support and I want to give them first shot.

Find a time where you can comfortably wait and keep notes. You will be doing a chat session with support. You will have to wait in line most likely, but be organized and offer to paste the full crash report in the chat windows.
