    Beginners guides?

    tpstom-UAs6T9 Level 1
Hey there. I'm a senior graphic designer and have been using InDesign and Photoshop for many years. I am looking to learn Fireworks and wondered if anyone had any suggestions of good books to get me started.

      Thanks in advance.

Tricky. Especially with Fireworks CS4 now available as a public beta...

Whatever you find is going to be 'out of date' to a greater or lesser
degree, and there isn't much out there to my knowledge.

You may be better of with online resources such as...

            Thanks Peter

Do you think the content of the application will alter dramatically? I'm comparing to InDesign here, but between releases there are obviously new features, but the basics tend to stay the same.

            Thanks for your time.

              Hi Tom,

I agree in principle, but since Adobe purchased Macromedia there has been
considerable work done to integrate all the Adobe products. Fireworks CS4
has had several fairly major interface updates.

If there was a such a thing as a good time to release a new FWs book, now
would be it, however there are none that I know of scheduled for release in
              the near future.

One book you may like to keep your eye out for is...

Special Edition Using Macromedia Fireworks MX (Special Edition Using) by
Jeffrey Bardzell, I find it rather dry but there is no doubting It is a very
              handy reference book.

Fair point about the updates and thanks for the link to the book.

                  Much obliged.
