Lightroom.exe - Bad Image

When I try to start Lightroom Classic CC i get this message.

C:\ Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Lightroom Classic CC\substrate.dll is

either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try

installing the program again using the original installation media or

contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

Error status Oxc0000020.

Thanks Bob, As I mentioned that the problem seems to be with computers having a specific version of this antivirus installed, and adding Lightroom to the exception list does fixes the issue. So if you plan to update the app, try the workaround.

Hi Bob,

Which Antivirus do you have installed on your computer?

Few customers reporting similar issue have benefited from disabling McAfee, uninstalling/reinstalling Lighroom with the antivirus disabled and then setting Lightroom's DLLs as exempt from McAfee.

Hi Akash,

I have McAfee installed. Lightroom Classic CC worked fine for a few days. I uninstalled Classic CC and installed the previous version and I am not have any problems.

Hi Akash,

I reinstalled Classic CC with the antivirus off and then added the file substrate.dll to the exception list. So far it’s working fine.
