Updated to PS CC 18 from 17 today.

Cannot use the Select and Mask function - I instead get the error dialog above when I click the Select and Mask button.

Problem occurs on PSD files, but not on jpeg files.

When the problem occurs, a new folder <Workspaces (Modified)> is created inside <AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC 2018/Adobe Photoshop CC 2018 Settings> . This folder contains the files <Real Estate.psw> (my custom workspace) & <Select and Mask.psw>.

That did not work for me.

However what did work for me, was to go Edit>Preferences>General>Reset Preferences on Quit   .........

And then upon restarting PS the function appears to work correctly. (Even after changing some UI things back to the way I had them before. Colour scheme, UI scaling, mouse wheel zoom, etc etc).

Hi

Go to Preferences > Performance > Graphics Processor Settings > Advanced and turn of Use Open CL.  Restart and try S&M. It does not fix all cases but some users have reported that it fixed their issue
