I would think that using parentDocument.items, etc. or Application.aplication.items you could do this, but I wonder if the fact that they are private may prevent access. They might need to be public.

Also Greg, while on a similar topic, how can I call an object from another component into my main application.
Say my main app needs to refresh an arrayCollection in a component using arrayCollection.refresh() . How can I call this in my main application? For example sake, we'll name the component comp1. Then in my main app I want to be able to use something like comp1.arrayCollection.refresh() to refresh comp1's arrayCollection. What's the exact way to use a component's object in a main app?
I would think that as long as the array collection has an id, such as myAC, then it would be compName.myAC.refresh().
