Facial recognition returns "no people found" in a folder full of headshots

After running the initial facial recognition scan on my catalog, Lightroom began recognizing faces in new imports...until it stopped.

Now, even with a newly-imported folder made up of nothing by clear head-and-shoulders pictures of individuals it returns a "no people found" message when I try to get it to find faces. (Some of the faces in that particular folder were already in the database, and it doesn't even recognize them.)

I'm running version 7.0.1.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I had a similar problem, and it drove me crazy.

Problem was that my lightroom path contained a special character.

In my case a german umlaut 'ä'.

Reinstlling lighroom to a different location, also removing the temp files fixed the problem.

Hi rrgarver,

You may try and reset the Lightroom preferences back to defaults and check if that helps.

I have run into the same issue. Deleting the .agprefs file fixes it. But I also lose all my other LR preferences.

Sometimes, the face recognition will run the next time I start the program, rather than immediately after import like it should.
