Thanks for continuing to improve a great product.
Since I upgraded to LightRoom Classic CC the time that it takes to import local files (i.e. those already on the HD) has significantly increased.
Since I didn't expect to see an increase I didn't bother getting a benchmark with the old version, so it is difficult to quantify it, but the difference is noticable when importing NEF/JPEG images from a Nikon D4s and D810.
I don't think it is a hardware problem. I seem to be well above your minimum requirements:
Mac OSx 10.11.6
Quad Core i7
16GB of RAM
512 GB SSD with ~40GB remaning
Any new settings that could help?
I am using 7.0.1, I am importing the files from the local HD (actually SSD). I am generating Standard preview size of 1440 pixels, medium preview quality,
I am puzzled, because this has only been an issue since the update to Classic. After I start the import the programme sits for about a minute before the progress bar does anything with only 20 or so pictures. It can get quite long with larger collections.
