I'm working on an image to be print in black and white, black ink on white paper to save the cost of printing in color. I use screens for the different densities of black ink. Can I use a gradient for some areas and not be considered by a printer as 256 grays? I have looked everywhere for an answer and none answer my question. Professional printers give me round about answers. Before I go too far with this project I want to make sure that a printer is printing in black ink on white paper not 256 shades of gray. I think this a question that many would like an answer to.
