I have a Canon Canoscan 9000F connected to my Mac running El Capitan (10.11.6). I have real problems getting the Canon software to work the way I want it to when doing scans, so of course I always try to turn to Photoshop. Yet of course there still isn't a listing in the Import menu item list for my scanner.
I have ensured that my scanner is listed in the Apple system preferences under the Printers and Scanners. I have even tried downloading and installing the Twain driver from the Adobe site (but that just causes the application to crash when I try to scan using it - but it does see my scanner). I have also reached out to Canon to see if they are able to offer any suggestions.
Has anybody here been able to resolve this long running scanner issue that occurred after the conversion to 64 bit systems?
When I scan, I just use my scanner's interface and do any post-production in Photoshop. (I use an old Epson Perfection 4490 Photo, which I plan upgrading in the not-to-distant future.)
You can scan directly into Photoshop using the WIA option if you are in Windows. Adobe discontinued Twain long ago. Anything like that locks up Photoshop until the scan is finished.
I just set my scanner software to open in Photoshop when done. Lossless Tiff is what I use since PSD is not an option, but I can work on the file and save as PSD.
