I have Elements 14 and Premier elements 14 using a Windows 10 operating system. On 11/17/17 my system got very slow and both Adobe programs refused to open jpg files. No error message just would not open, I tried 6 different jpg files including some I have opened in the recent past. I did a virus scan on 11/18 which was helpful in getting system back to normal speed. The 2 Adobe programs still refuse to open jpg files. I was considering buying Lightroom during this week's sale but I want to get Photoshop elements back to normal first.

I spoke too soon. After I re-set the preferences, I opened and
modified one jpg file. Now Photoshop Elements 14 will not open at all
but I can open Premier Elements 14.
