I have been using Photoshop CC successfully on a laptop for some months. I have now deactivated that and downloaded to an all-in-one (both on Windows 10). Having "developed" the .dng file in Camera Raw, I now find that the "open image" command, which should enable me to deal with the file in Photoshop and end up with a .jpg, just produces a black screen (though the little "background image" layer bar in the bottom right is there). Help! Seems I have now got a later version (judging by the artwork at the beginning) but it seems unlikely there has been any radical change.

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Unfortunately this is no proper solution as it invalidates GPU dependent features (like the Rotate View Tool and some Filter acceleration for example) but it indicates possible problems with the GPU driver or the OS.
