It's quite difficult to guess your problem, without in depth information on what you're doing.

Please state your OS and version and the software used and version. It would also be helpful to describe shortly your document or put a link of it to Dropbox.

This said, slow print speed with Acrobat normally means that you are printing with "Print as image" ticked (Advanced tab on the print dialogue). Print as image is very helpful, when the printer refuses to print a document, but the drawback is, that each page is rendered by Acrobat and send as an image to your printer. That's quite slow and the option is "sticky", ie, Acrobat keeps this, even when shutting down and restarting Acrobat.
