Installed fonts are appearing in the font list but not able to change the fonts

Hi,

recently i installed Malayalam fonts in Mac pro. I could install the fonts (.Mlt, .ttf). These fonts are appearing in Photoshop and Illustrator font list.

But when i try to change it doesn't change rather just give tiny spaces between the letters!

Software: Adobe photoshop, illustrator,

Hardware: Mac pro
