When you upload pictures from Cs6, it appears that you uploaded the layer, but you can't see pictures on the screen. When you click on the top of the layer, you can't see what happens when you don't see the picture and you don't click on it.
Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?
Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences (Photoshop > Preferences > Performance > Graphic Processor Settings) and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
