What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:

Is the smart object vector or pixel based? If vector it may be trying to open another app such as Adobe Illustrator and you’re running into memory issues. But that’s a wild guess. Please provide a more detailed description of your problem.

The objects are pixel based images. The issue was happening when i tried to edit the object, whether trying to alter a plug-in alteration to the object or deleting adjustments within the smart object layer, then once saving the layer changes, photoshop would disappear.

  1. What kind of Smart Object? (What is in the Smart Object)
  2. Is there a specific edit you are applying to the Smart object?
  3. Or are you trying to edit/open the Smart Object directly?

Hi Daniel, the smart objects are image/pixel based. The issue is happening when applying different edits to the object, whether its altering plug-in alterations or layer adjustments etc. When altering  3rd party plug-in  adjustments, once starting the saving procedure it then quits photoshop completely with no unexpected quit pop-up window. The same thing happend when changing the psb layer within the object. Changing adjustments or deleting them, I then try saving the layer's new edits, were it would just quit.
