Lost PSCC 2018 PSB file on OSX

    tradesmith45

Hi, hoping for some help w/ a first time I've seen this problem. Using PSCC 2018 release 19 on iMac w/ TM drive w/ OS X 10.12.

Have a large document format (5.4GB) PSB - a large panorama w/ layers. It was originally created in PSCC 2017.  I recently came back to it & made changes over several hours of work. I saved & closed/reopened the new version a few times. Went back a couple days later to make more adjustments & PSCC could not find the document.

In finder, it did not show in a search of all files. When I restored the file from TM, got the original PSB PSCC 2017 document before I had re-edited it.  So all my edits have been lost.   Somehow TM had missed the re-edited version even though it had made several backups after I edited the document in PSCC 2018.

I did a web search for discussions of missing PSB files & didn't find anything useful. There is nothing in the Recovery File folder & PSCC does have Recovery File turned on in preferences.

Any of you seen this? Have any suggestions for avoiding this problem?

If you have more than one drive connected to your Mac, you may have saved it to a different drive that time machine hasn't indexed. Also try going to File>Open Recent to see if it's still listed.

Thanks Steve for the reply.  I do have connected drives & search all w/o luck.  I did use Recent to reopen the file & it gave me the message PS can't find file or some such.  The file really was gone.

Since no one has provided insight into the cause of this event, I'm attempting to replicate it over several days.  Its slow going because the file takes over 5 min. to open & only a little less to save if compression is used.

On the connected drives, try sorting by "Date Modified" and see if it's there and perhaps the name was altered in saving (errant key stroke); something that's happened to me when working in haste. Just a thought. It's so painful to lose hard work.

Yup, I tried many search terms & methods both on the various drives & on the TM drive.
