You must always power down the External monitor before disconnecting it, otherwise you have the large Photoshop window of the external monitor on your Macbook screen.
Click on the Green resize button on the top left of Photoshop a few times or go to Window > Application Frame and toggle it off and on.
Either should resize the Application to your Macbook.
thanks for your response.
understand what you mean about powering down to do next time but for now on my Mac book.....
on my Mac book air because of the issue I can't see the green button.
and when I follow your other advice (window- application frame) the "application frame" is greyed out so I can't click it?
Perhaps you can drag the window to the right by grabbing the top of it until the buttons come into view, or see if restarting your mac helps.
soi restarted and now I can see layers palette but now the tabs of the documents open don't show, any ideas?
