Using templates at different folder levels

    Bryan_H
I have a template for web root level pages located in the \Templates directory. When I attempt to use it one directory level down or more, the path reference to the template does not automatically change so that my template doesn't work. Do I need to create another template from a page at that lower level in order for the path to the template (up at the root level) is correct?

I create a new child page from my template. The link in the child page
          shows this -

          Template="/Templates/whatever.dwt"

It's a root relative link that will work anywhere in the site. Is that not
          what you are seeing?

I should have been more specific on my problem, sorry. I have the root-relative paths in my navigation bar located in the non-editable area of the template, so when i create a page on the second folder level down, the navigation link is incorrect, not knowing about the relative change in reference to the root. The reason I put the navigation there was so I could make global find and replace changes to the navigation bar easily. I had hoped that DW realized that the relative paths needed to change when the page location changed, but apparently that doesn't happen. So I am thinking that I need a separate version of the template, depending upon which level of folder in which I am creating the new page-from-template. Is this true or is there a better way to handle this? Thanks for your help in advance.

There is no link change relative to the root.

If I have a link in the template page like this -

              <a href="/folder1/folder2/folder3/whatever.html"

then I can place the child page anywhere in my site and that link will work.

              > DW realized that the relative paths needed to change when the page

It does, and doesn't need to do anything.

But one of us is clearly confused. Please show me your template and tell me
              which links are a problem.

My template was developed for a root-level page. It has navigation in it. A navigation link might read "/level1/page.htm". When I use the same template for a page2, located two levels down, e.g., /level1/level2/page2.htm, the reference to that navigation link in the resulting template-produced page reads "/Templates/level1/page.htm", so it is doesn't work as it should.

please give a link to the uploaded template file.

The fix, and the concept to get- is that the links should work and be
                  correct IN the template file.

                  Open the template file.
                  Check the links.
                  Fix them.

                  Are these html links?
Or are they in a js menu type thing?
again- url to the template file.
