Freeze if paragraph style is edited in ways that move footnotes

While working on a document of very modest size with a very modest number of unusually long footnotes, I noticed that unchecking "Hyphenate Across Column" in an extant paragraph style caused InDesign to freeze.

Further experimentation suggests (no more, as I'm tired of numerous "end task" etc.) that any sort of editing of any paragraph style that causes movement of long footnotes causes freeze. I see this working with latest versions of InDesign, Windows 10 (64) and OSX.

Can this be replicated in a second file? There is the possibility that there could corruption in the file which might be resolved by saving as IDML and reopening and re-testing.

Hi,

There are some performance issues related to this that trigger text re-composition. One of them being using span columns with footnotes.

Please log a bug for this issue along at Adobe InDesign Feedback  with a sample file so that it can be looked into.
