As reported to Adobe Bug Report Form

Steps to Reproduce Bug:

1. Select a clip

2. Click motion on Effect Controls

3. Try to resize the clip or move it in the program monitor using the handles or create a mask on any effect (e.g. opacity)

Results:

On random occasions there are no handles to resize or move the clip in the program monitor using the handles. Also you cannot click on program monitor to create a mask.

Expected Results:

To be able to drag the clip or resize it and also to be able to draw a mask on the program monitor.

When problem occured I tried the following:

1. Deselect clip and select again

2. Resize the program monitor

3. Reset current workspace

4. Change workspace

5. Close and reopen timeline

6. Clear all source monitor clips

The only working solution is to close the project and re-open it or restart premiere. Then it works for 2 or 3 times and then problem returns.

It has been tested on default editing workspace on both Mac and Windows.

It seems to stop working after a few successful transforms or masks.

Same situation here.  Cannot "Select" anything in Program monitor.  Might work a couple times, but stops working.  This, after recent upgrades, P.P. 2018, High Sierra.

Same problem here ... there doesn't appear to be any one cause that makes them appear or disappear. Switching form CUDA to Open CL makes it better, but still annoying. I have deleted all cache files with no change.

I found a workaround:

click on another sequence.

click back to your original sequence.

all handles should be working now.

Thank Nvidia for end-trigger shadowplay. I noticed that sometimes the bug would resolve itself, and reviewing the footage allowed me to figure out why.
