Hello!
Lately I have not been able to view the thumbnail-previews when importing files. Doesn't matter if they are RAW, JPEG or MOV - no previews are showing.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
Thanks!
Are you connecting the camera directly to the computer?
If so, try copying the images to the computer first (using Windows Explorer or the Mac Finder), and then try to import from the folder you have copied the images to.
Or try using a card reader.

Thanks for the tip! I checked, and the GPU was already deactivated. I activated, and then deactivated again - no response.
Any other ideas?

Chiming in... I am using the card directly.
Just bought the A7R III and took it for a spin last night. Inserted card and no preview is available for jpeg or awr (raw) files. I'm running Catalina. Switching from Canon and everything working fine with those imports.
I run LR Classis from CC. (see system info)

It appeears as if "Subfolders" are not viewable... Probably only the master card "Misc" folder. I manually chose "another destination," clicked on the SD card from location, and manually entered the subfile for cards dcs files and the photo previews are now showing. Usually there would be an "Include Subfolders" option next to the import sourse but there is not one available now. Had to manually find the subfolder. IDK... at least they are showing ARW and the JPEG previews.

I have the same issue with Lightroom classic 13.1 . The photos were shot with iPhone and exportet as Jpg to a dedicated folder on my harddrive.
Lightroom classic fails to preview about 50% of my photos. I am on Mac mini M2 Pro with 32 GB Ram MacOS Sonoma.
When importing from harddrive most photos import succesfully but 10% are blank with an "!” icon with an "reading error". All photos were made the same way.
Work around is to duplicate, resafe and import those photos but it is an awkward workflow.
