Describe in more detail exactly what you were doing. Also, exactly which version of Lightroom are you using - copy and paste here the first line from Help > System Info.

Thanks for help.Ive sent System Info separately.Process wise I download photos onto External hard drive and use it either plugged into Laptop or PC whichever I am using at the time. When I edit and make Collections etc the Collection etc will only show on the computer I did the process one and not the other even after Lightroom is backed up on the computer.Hope this makes sense.

Are you including the catalog on that external hard drive? You need to be using the same catalog on both computers.

Thanks for help as I must be doing something wrong in backup eg I assume file that needs to be backed up is Lightroom Catalog.lrcat ?a simple question - how to do this ?Is it a click and drag or ? I have Back Up Catalog window that pops upsetto back up every time LR exits and Backup Folder nominated as a seperate folder on Ext Harddrive which I've called Lightroom Backup.Appreciate your help

But the problem is that the backup file is a zip file. It cannot be read by Lightroom. You need the lrcat file, the same one that is being backed up. I would recommend that you copy it directly to the external hard drive and put it in its own folder. And you will have to do this every time you want to move the external hard drive to the laptop computer.

Thanks will try but is it drag and drop or copy and paste?

Either one, as long as you can get it copied to the external hard drive.
