PS 2017 (not 2018) hangs on Mac for several minutes

I'm on Yosemite (10.10.5)  on a Macbook Pro9. Every few minutes (no more than 5) PS (2017.1.1) starts to beachball.

This is what console logs (seemingly related to Photoshop):

My boot drive is reporting about 17.5GB of space left (I do need to see about deleting a few items), but I restarted PS and rebooted my machine a couple of times. I purged everything after a save too.

Has anyone any ideas why Photoshop would start to beachball? Thanks!
