I've tried uploading several files of different sizes in different browsers and in the Adobe program for Mac and repeatedly get a conversion failure alert after the file has uploaded and spent several minutes processing the conversion. Since I just subscribed to the Adobe Export service, I hope it will work soon or I will need my money back.

Hello danielk16217162
We apologize for the inconvenience caused, as per the description above, you are getting conversion failure error message while converting a PDF file into Word, Is that correct?
Please try converting the PDF file to Word using the URL https://cloud.acrobat.com/exportpdf on a different browser and see if this makes any difference.
For testing purpose, please connect the computer to a different network environment like a guest wired/wireless network, or mobile hotspot and try converting the PDF.
You can also try converting the PDF file to Word on your mobile device, and see if the issue is reproducible.
You may also refer to File conversion error | ExportPDF Link: https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat-com/kb/file-never-converts.html
Let us know how it goes.
Regards,
Anand Sri.

Thanks Anand for your response.
I've tried three different browsers. I have tried on a different network as well. Fireforx finally worked, but the document that I got back was oriented the wrong way (vertical instead of the original horizontal), so none of the text was recognized correctly. Also, 17 out of 30 pages were blank. I still haven't been able to create a Word document from a PDF successfully.

You can use free online conversion tools such as Zamza or Xodo. For complex graphic PDFs, you can use AutoDWG to convert them into CAD for modification. Now AutoDWG is also providing PDF to Word conversion services.
