Photoshop CC 'freezes' every 3-10 minutes when using tools

Hello,

I really hope someone can help me please?

I've been using Photoshop for years with very few problems, but around 10 days ago I started getting a problem where it seems to 'freeze' (but you can still move the mouse, but nothing responds) every 3-10 minutes or so. It seems random, and the only way I can fix it is by using Alt Tab to change windows and then when I come back to Photoshop it's working again. Or sometimes if you wait long enough, it catches up with itself and starts working again. I am not working on excessively large files and not (to my knowledge) doing anything differently to before.

I have tried...

1. Resetting preferences

2. Updating drivers

3. Checking cache levels

4. Updating Photoshop CC

5. Trying a different Wacom tablet (same problem)

6. Using, and not using a USB hub.

My computer is a Microsoft Surface Pro 4, 256 GB, Intel Core i5.

If anyone can shed any light I'd be really grateful.

Are you running your display with a differen number of pixel then it is manufactured with, Or forcing some odd windows scaling percent onto CC 19.1?

A display with 2736px by 1824px seems odd to me. I did a searcg

You have a surface pro 4.... I use a wacom tablen with my surface pro 3 2610x1440 display...

All I can say is I have seem some strange thing happen on my Windows 10 machines and I need to reboot at times.

Thanks very much for your response.

Yes, my resolution is 2736px 1824px which is listed as '2736x1824px (Recommended)' in my Microsoft display options window.

In the same window, the default scaling option for 'size of text, apps and other items' is 200%, but I had changed it to 225% as it makes the text easier to read. I will change it back and see if that makes any difference. It has been 225% since I got my Surface Pro in 2016 and have never had this problem before.

Not sure what the cg.dll NVIDIA Cg and cgGL.dll NVIDIA Cg Runtime files are. They are located in the Programme Files/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop CC directory. A quick Google of 'cg.dll' brings up lots of people with Photoshop errors related to missing .dll files, but I don't really understand what they are or what they do I'm afraid.

I did a search for the file names in Windows Explorer and right clicked on them to view their properties. No idea if this helps at all!

Here's an update to my original post.

I have just reset my Surface Pro 4 which reinstalled Windows which wiped any non-Windows apps and settings, in order to rule out the problem being caused by other programs etc.

I have just reinstalled Photoshop CC and the problem is still happening.
