hassle with photoshop batch process

Hello,

I have an action that I run with batch process in Photoshop, I'll quickly describe it's uses for clarity.  The action takes an image, exports it as JPG and PNG at full resolution, then resizes the image smaller, exports it as JPG and PNG (in different folders to previously), and then closes the file without saving.

I've been using this a lot for my images and it has always worked perfectly, I can select a folder full of any images, PSD, jpg, png - any format - and leave it processing, no need to do anything, just saves everything down how I want it.

However: I have a load of TIF files from an external company, and I tried to batch process them using my saved action...  it completed the first action and saves it as a full resolution JPG, and then pops up with a dialogue box asking me to save as??  And no matter what I've tried, it won't go any further - if I cancel it and continue the action, it doesn't carry on and save the PNG down, just does the same thing on the next image.  If I save it as a copy, again, it doesn't save the PNG down.  I tried converting all the TIF's into PSD files using the image processor and batch processing the PSD's, but same thing happens.

I've tried batch processing a completely different folder of PSD's from a previous job, and the action works perfectly on them, so I'm wondering why it won't work with these particular images???  Never had a problem before...

Has anyone run into anything similar before, or have any advice or help??  I have a lot of these images to process and can't do it manually!

Really appreciate any help.

If that is what happen with those Tiff and your action we would need both you action and  some sample tiff you have problems with to see where your problem is.  Most likely the problem is in your action on how you set the batch options.

You do not need any Action to do what you what you want.  You could download and Install Image Processor Pro and use that.  With that you can save out up to ten output image files for your files the type and size you need.  Just add and remove tabs. You can if you

You can if you needed include  action for each output image produces to add additional custom processing.

You wrote you were having problems  with some Tiff files  no problem with your PSD files???

Even If I had your action and Tiff I could not test for I could not connect to your remote sever your action is saving to unless you override save as in your batch setting which you did not post.  Additionally  Adobe does not officially state that Photoshop will work with network file servers. However, your problem is most likely related to Photoshop behavior.  Actions can not use logic so they have a limited saving ability they came not use logic to generate filename they have to relies on Photoshop behaving a particular way.  The problem is  Photoshop behavior may change if all document conditions are not the same.  I also do not use save for web is actions and it looks like you have here and I also do not  know if save for web can be overridden when batched.    I'm not familiar with Photoshop behavior when saved for web is used when an action is played.

No, I said that I tried to convert the TIF's into PSD's and the same issue happened again....  that's why I thought there must be something related to the file that was causing an issue.  No worries though, thanks for the taking the time to reply and help out.
