How to restore faded writing on old photographs

Hi,

I am fixing this photo up for my Grandfather and can not figure out how to restore the faded writing.

I have tried a range of tools and can not seem to restore the "pauls" writing.

Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do?

Hi can anyone help me with the same issue?? My mom wrote this to my dad when she was 18 and my dad just passed away and I was given his wallet and he has had this picture of her always.

That's not going to be an easy fix I'm thinking.  To get this far I used Camera RAW filter increasing Clarity and contrast. Move the black and shadows sliders to the left.

Then used a brush set to Overlay in the options bar paining with white to lighten the background.

Finall a curves layer to increase contrast.

Adjustment Layers may provide one approach, but as ged2016 mentioned you should post the (section of the) image.
